Rough Aeration

This spring we have intentions to aerate as many of the rough areas as we can squeeze in.  We have started with greens complexes and clubhouse grounds based off their importance and the fact that these areas need to heal sooner rather than later.  Upon completion of these areas we plan to move to looping fairways, areas between fairways and cart paths and between fairways and tees.  After that, with some cooperation from weather and ground conditions we plan to move to open spaces between holes that are a little more out of play.

The process of rough aeration includes a tractor with a roll style aerator that is hooked to the tractor's three point hitch.  We are then left with soil plugs on the surface that are 3-5" long by 3/4" wide.  These plugs will not be picked up, rather we will allow them to melt down over time with natural precipitation.  This will be a messy process so we apologize in advance for any inconvenience.  We feel that the rough aeration will pay dividends for both our staff and our members as well.
